Autism Assessment and Intervention Service

Our assessments are undertaken in accordance with the National Autism Plan, and take account of the NICE Guidelines.

Socrates Autism Assessment and Intervention Service provides an assessment leading to a differential diagnosis for children.

Young people and adults presenting with difficulties associated with Autistic Spectrum Disorder can also be assessed utilising best practice models prior to the publication of NICE Guidelines for adults, publication of which is expected in mid 2012.

We provide

• Initial consultation
• Structured autism-specific assessment
• Communication skills assessment
• Individually tailored support and interventions if required.

The SCP team are able to provide both initial assessments and second opinions where necessary as well as expert evidence in court cases in the areas of Education, Family, Private and Public Law and Criminal Proceedings.

The SCP assessment teams have a core membership of both Clinical and Educational Psychologists, and a Speech and Language Therapist. In addition sessional input is available from associated professionals e.g. psychiatrists and social workers, all of whom have extensive relevant experience and training.
