Assessment and Therapy
 

Dr Kate Green is a Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC).  Dr Green has over 20 years experience of providing psychological consultation, assessment, formulation and intervention in the NHS working across the lifespan.  She has worked for Socrates Psychological Services since 2014.  Dr Green works with adults, children, young people, their families and carers who are experiencing emotional distress such as anxiety, depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), self-harm and suicidal ideation as well as chronic difficulties.  Examples of the latter includes long-term health conditions and complex relationship and adjustment problems associated with adverse early life experiences. She has an integrative approach to therapeutic work drawing on a range of clinical experience and psychological theories/models; examples include multi-systemic, Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), attachment theory and ‘risk’ frameworks.  Dr Green has undertaken post qualification training in the use of Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and she is currently a Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) Practitioner in training on the two-year course via Catalyse.  Additionally, Dr Green has experience of preparing assessment reports for care proceedings.​As an experienced clinician, Dr Green applies highly developed multi-systemic skills within an acute hospital setting (Cardiac Centre) working with adults with complex presentations (including anxiety, depression, trauma, challenges to quality of life, disfigurement, disease progression and concerns relating to life limiting illness/end of life) their families and carers.  Dr Green also co-ordinates the regional Cardiac Special Interest Group.

Training and Consultation
 

Dr Green has worked extensively with different networks of professionals within fostering, adoption and residential care services and health services (acute and community).  Dr Green is trained in the ‘Solihull Approach’ including specialist training for Foster Carers and held a lead role in the implementation, delivery and supervision of this group work.  She contributed to the development of the ‘Adult Solihull Approach’ programme and the ‘Solihull Approach’ has also informed work undertaken with professionals and patients within the cardiac specialty and therapeutic work in the private sector.
