BSc (Hons)

Rebecca Mallinson

My child loved the sessions and had lots of fun. The sessions helped my child to improve their core stability, tone, motor planning, confidence, strength and energy levels and is now able to tolerate sensory input better.

Rebecca is a member of Socrates SMART Team who assess children and young people with complex presentations. Rebecca's expertise is in the assessments for children and young people who present with Sensory Difficulties and Autism.

Rebecca is an Occupational Therapist with Collaborative for Leadership in Ayres Sensory Integration (CLASI) certification. She is also ADOS trained for assessment of Autism. Rebecca obtained her Post Graduate Certificate in Sensory Integration from The University of Ulster in 2013 which enabled her to carry out Sensory Integration assessments and in 2019 she obtained a Certificate in Ayres’ Sensory Integration.

We are very proud to say that she is the first person in the United Kingdom to obtain the Certificate in Ayres Sensory Integration (CASI) programme which offers the title of an ASI Practitioner, this provides Rebecca with the qualification to carry out sensory integration assessments and also interventions.

The qualifications have provided her with the ability to understand in detail, use and apply a wide range of assessment tools and methods to clinically reason how to provide intervention to anyone of any age and in any clinical setting. Rebecca is trained to use the sensory integration assessment tool, the EASI assessment which has replaced the SIPT (Sensory Integration and Praxis Test), a gold standard assessment tool. The EASI is a comprehensive assessment tool assessing a wide range of sensory processing difficulty.

Rebecca has worked within the NHS as an Occupational Therapist for many years and continues to do so, as well as undertaking private work. She has experience working with adults and in 2008 specialised in working with children with mild to complex physical disabilities including: neurological conditions, co-ordination difficulties and fine and gross motor difficulties. She has worked within a variety of settings including acute hospitals, rehabilitation, mainstream schools, early years, home settings and special schools, including schools for children with autism.

She has developed her clinical experience in this area by working as a private OT providing specific assessments based on Ayres Sensory Integration and strategies for children and young people who present with Sensory Difficulties which has included work commissioned by various Local Authorities.

Rebecca has worked with the Socrates Team since 2015 which has enabled her to develop her clinical experience with young people with Autism Spectrum Conditions.
