Wellbeing
Psychological Well-being Webinar Series
This 5-part Socrates webinar series has been developed to support anyone experiencing stress, overwhelm or burnout at work. Each session is under 30 minutes and offers clear, practical strategies grounded in evidence-based psychological approaches. The sessions guide you through common challenges to wellbeing, using relatable examples and simple reflective exercises. You will learn how to spot early warning signs, understand what keeps difficult cycles going and develop new ways of responding that can be brought into everyday life.
The series is suitable for individuals watching alone or for groups using the sessions as part of a wider wellbeing initiative. The approach is compassionate, non-judgmental and designed to be accessible regardless of role or sector.
Whether you are new to these ideas or already have some experience of mental health tools, the content is intended to meet you where you are. We recommend watching the videos in order, starting with session one, but each can also be viewed as a standalone session.
Start watching today and take the first step towards improving your wellbeing.
Session Overviews
Session 1: New ways of coping
An introduction to the series, exploring how pressure and overload affect your ability to cope. You’ll be introduced to the “window of tolerance” model and a simple traffic light system to help build self-awareness and break out of autopilot. Includes reflective exercises to help you recognise early warning signs of burnout and reconnect with the things that matter.
Session 2: Anxiety
This session explores what anxiety is, where it comes from and what keeps it going. You’ll learn how the brain’s threat system shapes your thoughts and behaviour, and how anxiety can become a self-reinforcing cycle. Practical tools include grounding techniques, problem-solving approaches and strategies to reduce avoidance and regain control.
Session 3: Stress and Burnout
Focusing on chronic stress and burnout, this session helps you understand the signs, triggers and longer-term impact of operating in survival mode. You’ll be guided through common vicious cycles and introduced to new ways of coping including setting boundaries, asking for help and building flexibility into your day.
Session 4: Thoughts and Worries
This session looks at why difficult thoughts can feel so powerful, especially under stress. You’ll explore common thinking styles like catastrophising and overplanning, and practise techniques for stepping back from your thoughts rather than getting pulled in. Includes simple exercises to build perspective, reduce reactivity and improve decision-making.
Session 5: Overcoming Barriers
The final session explores the internal rules and habits that can block self-care, even when we know what we need. You’ll reflect on common beliefs such as “I must always keep going” or “I shouldn’t ask for help” and be supported to rewrite them. The session finishes with practical steps to act in line with new, more helpful ways of thinking.
