Rhiannon Matthews

Rhiannon is a Play Therapist registered with the British Association of Play Therapists, working within the DARTS team.

 

Rhiannon completed an undergraduate and postgraduate degree in Childhood Studies before qualifying as a Play Therapist in 2023.

Rhiannon primarily works with children who have experienced developmental and relational trauma, offering child-centred play therapy. This approach allows children the time and space to process their feelings and experiences, at their own pace and developmental level. Rhiannon is a trained and experienced Forest School Practitioner and has completed additional training in Outdoor Play Therapy (COOPT), and can facilitate therapy sessions outdoors when appropriate.

 

Rhiannon has also completed additional training in attachment and developmental trauma. She is a reliable coder for the Child Attachment Play Assessment (CAPA), is working towards accreditation as a BUSS Practitioner (Building Underdeveloped Sensorimotor Systems, currently completing Level 3), and is trained to Level 1 in TheraPlay.
